Jenny Matthews

Women and War

Since 1982 the British photographer Jenny Matthews has shown in committed and moving images the plight of women in armed conflicts, collaborating with international organisations like ActionAid in the struggle to eradicate poverty, injustice and inequality.

Matthews presents and discusses the history of fifty photographs from her book Women and War, an extraordinary document which deals with events from Vietnam to the Afghanistan of the Talibans, from Northern Ireland to the Middle East, from Haiti, Zaire or Ruanda to the Balkans War.
