I+C+i. Bricolage, meaning and intellectual property
With David de UgarteFrom the standpoints of both art criticism and economic theory, the development of the concepts of bricolage and post-production are moving towards radical criticism of intellectual property. Generation of meaning and creation of value turn out to be, in this convergence of gazes, two dimensions of the same social process. It is no accident that this encounter has been occurring precisely now, over recent years: thoroughgoing change in the social structure of communication, in the topology of social networks, is generating new mass-based and widely-distributed practices that question the very foundations of the decentralised world that engendered the old concepts of innovation and its supposed need of protection.
