Future Now [Premiere]

Solveig Nordlund, Norway, 1986, 16’, OVSS.

From his house in Shepperton, Ballard speaks about his past in Shanghai, the effects that WWII provoked in him, his perspective on the future based on the way approaches writing and his view on the present coming from the role played by imagination in a world where advertising has replaced dreams and the only reality seems to lie in one's own obsessions. He also explains the meshing of literature with his everyday habits, the surrealist legacy and the role of science fiction in the 20th century.
