DEL ÉXTASIS AL ARREBATO (FROM ECSTASY TO RAPTURE)

Session 4. PAINTING - MOVEMENT

... ere erera baleibu izik subua aruaren... a string of meaningless words forms the title of the first and, to date, only full-length feature in the history of the Spanish cinema, painted entirely using camera-less animation. José Antonio Sistiaga used 35-mm celluloid as a white or, to be more precise, transparent canvas, onto which he directly applied the paint using different techniques. Made over a period of 17 months, with no figurative elements and a sound accompaniment, the result is a piece that cannot be described with words, made to be seen ideally in its cinematographic format. In short, an incomparable pleasure for the eye.

… ere erera baleibu izik subua aruaren…, José Antonio Sistiaga, 1968-1970, 35 mm, 70 min.

Screening of the six wipes of the cycle DEL ÉXTASIS AL ARREBATO
(FROM ECSTASY TO RAPTURE), created by Dvein, 2010, video, total running time 5 min.
