Crash [Premiere]
Harley Cokeliss, United Kingdom, 1971, 16’, OVSS.After the chapter entitled ‘Crash' in The Atrocity Exhibition (1970) and an exhibition of cars wrecked in accidents at the New Arts Laboratory (1970), J. G. Ballard acted in and narrated an experimental essay about car crashes produced by BBC Tour. Ballard reflects on the connections between mankind and modern technology, comparing the eroticism of the body and its gestures with those of cars. These theories culminated in his 1973 novel Crash.
