Autumn Concerts 2005 - Orquestra de Cambra Catalana
Three concerts to showcase Catalan composers who, in quite different times and circumstances, have been important to the music scene in our country. The first concert, ‘Encounters', is a tribute to Josep Soler, teacher to a whole generation of composers, who this year is celebrating his 70th birthday. The second concert, held to coincide with the exhibition ‘Literatures of exile', presents a programme based on ‘The music of exile', with works by Jaume Pahissa, Robert Gerhard, Montserrat Montmany and the 7 Fables of La Fontaine, by Xavier Benguerel. And, finally, the third concert is a celebration of the Catalan composers Jaume Casellas, Joan Rossell and Francesc Juncà, who succeeded each other as chapel master at the Catedral Primada de España in Toledo.

‘Catalan masters at Toledo Cathedral'
Jaume Casellas, Joan Rossell and Francesc Juncà succeeded each other as chapel master at the Catedral Primada de España in Toledo. This historic fact highlights the importance and recognition of Catalan chapel masters in the 18th century in Spain. The hearing of these composers is an introduction to high-quality music that has unjustly fallen into oblivion.
