BookCamp 2011 Session: Aspects of the publishing industry in the digital era

This session discusses the publishing industry in the digital era. It deals with several topics that define it, focusing on some of the changes affecting the Western book industry sector and the direction in which it is moving.

It will deal with the debate on publishing interests with regards the change; distribution channels and the role of literary agents; the new economic conditions that are agreed on; the special cases of self-publishing that have arisen; the future needs of publishers; the new "agents" of the sector, which are fighting a battle for the control of supports and formats; the changes in reading habits and the cultural impact of the new devices.
