Stem cells: what they are and their role in living beings
Lecture by Salvador A. BenitahWe now know that it is possible to dedifferentiate adult cells by means of genetic engineering. This procedure makes it possible to obtain stem cells for any individual at any time of his or her life. It has therefore become the great promise for understanding and modifying living processes, especially of diseases.
Salvador A. Benitah, ICREA research professor at the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (Institute of Biomedical Research of Barcelona).
Presented by: Cristina Sáez, scientific journalist, columnist for the newspaper La Vanguardia and other publications.
