Miqui Otero
Journalist and writer
Miqui Otero (Barcelona, 1980) grew up reading second-hand books at the Sant Antoni Sunday market. After that early start, he took his first steps in culture in the city managing the chaotic little big record label Doble Vida Discos together with a couple of friends, promoting fanzines and organising clubs for music and film buffs (from Our Favourite Club to Cine Low Cost). He also codirected the international music and literary festival Primera PErsona, at the CCCB.
He is now a contributor to El País and writes a weekly column for El Periódico, collaborates with radio programmes on RAC 1 and Onda Cero, and teaches literature and creative journalism at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He has published the novels Hilo musical (Alpha Decay, 2010), La cápsula del tiempo (Blackie Books, 2012) and Rayos (Blackie Books, 2016). His last novel, Simón, which won the Ojo Crítico award in 2020, will be published in Italy, Germany, France or Portugal, among other countries.
