Esther Vera

Journalist and politologist, editor of ARA newspaper

Esther Vera is a journalist and politologist specialising in international relations, with degrees in both subjects (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). Her career covers radio, television and the press. As a journalist, she started out in radio and went on to the International Section of Televisió de Catalunya, reporting events related to European and US politics. Her broad professional experience, starting in 1986, includes Catalunya Ràdio, TV3, Avui newspaper and contributions to El País newspaper.  She worked for five years as a delegate of the 24-hour news channel CNN+ and Cuatro in Catalonia. From January 2011 to November 2015 she was the special advisor and chief of cabinet of the Catalan Minister for Economy and Growth, Andreu Mas-Colell, with particular responsibility for disseminating the Catalan economy and the activity of the Catalan Government in the international sphere. On 5 January 2016 she signed the first issue of ARA as editor of the newspaper.
