Michael S. Gazzaniga

Michael Gazzaniga, Professor of Psychology and Director of the SAGE Center for the Study of Mind at the University of California (Santa Barbara), is deemed to be one of the world’s leading experts on cognitive neuroscience.

In his distinguished career, he has made crucial scientific breakthroughs in understanding the functioning of the hemispheres of the brain, while also being engaged in popularising work in his field through his books, his presence at numerous conferences and television programmes such as The Brain and the Mind.

He is founder and director of prestigious scientific societies such as the Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS) and has also been president of the American Psychological Society. He is author and editor of works of reference in the field of cognitive science, for example The Cognitive Neuroscience (the fourth edition of which was published by The MIT Press in 2009).
