Carles Guerra (Amposta, 1965)
Carles Guerra is an artist, art critic and independent curator. He studied at the University of Barcelona and the New School for Social Research, New York. Since he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 1996, he has formed part of the television studies group of the New School's Media Studies Program (New York). He curated 'Art & Language in Practice' (Fundació Antoni Tàpies, 1999) and 'Stop having an Exhibition. Perejaume' (MACBA, 1999). He has organised conferences on 'Visual Culture, politics of recognition and education' (Fundació 'la Caixa', 1999) and 'Quick! Representations of childhood' (2001), as well as the Forum Quam-00, devoted to debating new modes of production in contemporary art (2000). He has been a member of the editorial board of Acción Paralela review and was a contributor to Avui newspaper. He was the consultant on the art supplement of El Temps magazine. He is currently the editorial consultant of the 'Cultura/s' supplement of La Vanguardia newspaper. He has written regularly for international magazines such as Parachute and Art Monthly. His most recent works are Oficina per a la tematització de la joventut (1999-2000) and N de Negri. Conversacions amb Toni Negri a cura de Carles Guerra (2000). In 2001 he organised a youth-related conference at the Centre d'Art Santa Mònica, a series of projects related to the idea of young people as labour power. He lectures on the postgraduate course in Visual Culture Studies at the University of Barcelona and on the Master's course on Communication and Art Criticism at the University of Girona.
